Engagement is everything when it comes to being a top creator.

That’s what tech company Zefr found when compiling a list of the top digital video influencers under the age of 21.

“Social media is a dynamic landscape where data is king in understanding trends and projecting what’s important is critical for brands to navigate the future,” Tom Galido, head of product marketing and data at Zefr, told Mashable.

Zefr, which is Los Angeles-based, tracks and ranks the trending engagement of the top digital influencers across thousands of data points to find out who is the most influential.

The list of 20 digital video influencers was compiled using trending engagement data that tracks and predicts how much fan interaction an influencer will drive on future posts.

“We measured across several platforms –- Facebook, Instagram, Vine, YouTube,” Galido said. “Some rank influence based on total lifetime followers and views. That’s misleading. Really, what brought these top influencers together is looking at how they are trending over the last 30 days, and looking at how that activity will project to the future.”

Here’s a look at the top 5 on Zefr’s final list. For more, look at the company’s full post.

He currently has a comedy channel with fellow YouTuber Jc Caylen titled “KianAndJc.” Lawley also recently starred in Supergravity Films’ The Chosen, a horror-thriller feature.

5. Nash Grier

The 17-year-old, who rose to fame with his six-second videos on Vine, is a rising star in the digital space.
